TRADE NEWS: SiS Selects Agilent Technologies 93000 SOC Tester for 1.6 Gb/s HyperTransport Device Testing
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2003--
Agilent System Offers SiS Test Speeds of up to 2.5 Gb/s for
Testing of Current and Future High-Speed Technologies
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that Silicon
Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading supplier of core logic and
graphics chipsets, has purchased the Agilent 93000 SOC Series
NP-models for testing of its HyperTransport devices used in
high-performance PCs, workstations and servers.
The Agilent 93000 SOC NP-models feature test speeds of up to an
industry-leading 2.5 Gb/s, thus providing SiS with the capability of
fast and thorough testing of upcoming high-speed technologies such as
PCI Express and Serial ATA. SiS has successfully tested SiS755, the
first 1.6 Gb/s chipset with HyperTransport on the Agilent 93000
NP-model.
"Time to market is one of our key concerns, as missing only one
product cycle can put us out of the fast-moving PC market," said
Michael T.H. Chen, senior vice president of SiS' Integrated Product
and Connectivity Product Division. "The Agilent 93000 NP-model is a
single scalable platform that maximizes our long-term capital
investment by adding new capabilities over time instead of having to
buy new testers frequently before the existing ones are written off."
"The 93000 enables SiS to introduce leading-edge technology to the
market without an added investment in a new ATE platform," said Tom
Newsom, vice president and general manager of Agilent's SOC Business
Unit. "Traditionally, Agilent provides the longest system lifetimes in
the automated testing equipment industry, which allows our customers
to get a healthy return on their investments -- even during the hard
times."
Integrated functions like the scope tool and built-in source sync
option allow for fast debugging and therefore faster time to market.
The 93000's unique per-pin-architecture ensures low test times in
production as all pins can be processed in parallel at the same time.
About HyperTransport Technology
HyperTransport technology is a high-speed, high-performance,
point-to-point link for integrated circuits, and is designed to meet
the bandwidth needs of tomorrow's computing and communications
platforms. HyperTransport technology helps reduce the number of buses
while providing a high-performance link for PCs, workstations, and
servers, as well as numerous embedded applications and highly scalable
multiprocessing systems.
About the Agilent 93000 SOC Series
The Agilent 93000 SOC Series is the industry's fastest growing,
lowest cost single, scalable platform with over 400 installed systems.
The Agilent 93000 SOC Series is designed to meet both the demanding
performance and cost challenges of SOC testing. Models are configured
to span the widest range of applications that may require
ultra-high-speed digital data rates, up to 10 Gb/s, and the broadest
range of mixed-signal and RF capabilities. With this range of
capabilities, the 93000 SOC Series is the first choice for SCMs and
the first choice for high-volume manufacturing. For more information
